Home-to-Home Adoption Program

Parrot Education, Adoption, and Rehoming League is a foster-based rescue with a strong focus on education and rehabilitation. While we do our upmost to take in as many birds as possible, there are times when we no longer have the space or foster availability to provide the quality of care these birds deserve, and thus have to close intake. However, we do not simply close our doors and leave the fate of the birds in the balance. Our Home-to-Home Adoption program has been developed to offer an alternative to surrendering your bird and to enable PEARL to help more parrots in our community, even when our foster program is full.

Every time a parrot enters a new home it is forced to deal with a new, stressful and often frightful situation. The Home-to-Home Adoption program removes the extra stress of being placed in a foster home by allowing the bird to stay in its current home. Additionally, families who have had to make the difficult decision to find a new home for their beloved bird, can now take a more active role in the adoption process by ensuring that their bird goes to the home they feel is best suited.

To place your bird up for adoption through our Home-to-Home Adoption program, please complete the following application:

Please note: the birds available for adoption through our Home-to-Home Adoption program are being made available for adoption by their current family. Parrot Education, Adoption, and Rehoming League cannot accept responsibility for the adoptions conducted through the contacts made on this page.

To be accommodating to our community, all birds submitted for adoption through this program must be located within an approximate one hour radius of Pittsburgh, PA.

PEARL reserved the right to deny any application and/or remove any posted bird for any reason we deem necessary.
